Normal menopause?

I'll be 55 in Mar. 08. Haven't had a period in 4 months. Before I had pretty regular ones but only last 2 days and real light. I am taking nothing for the menopause and still haven't had hot flashes. Am I just sailing thru my "change" or is the worst yet to come? Only negative is I've gained about 7 lbs!!!!
