Triumph 1971 Trophy help?

I need to know about some stuff I should be looking for when I acquire my grandfathers 1971 triumph trophy next friday.It has been sitting in his garage for about 3-4 years..:\ It has about a 3/4 Full tank of gas, so Im not sure of how much rust is in the gas tank. When I get it the bike i'am going to put new tires on it, clean it up and try to get some of the rust off, get a new battery, and new spark plug. I just want to know what else I should look at, sorry if i sound dumb but I'am only 15 and know not much about motorcycles except for some basics.
