Is there a safe alternative to flea control products to treat my yard?

I have two dogs who are in the yard during the day and in house during the night. I am curious if there is a safer way to treat my yard so that my dogs do not ingest harmful pesticides. Sometimes my dogs eat gr and do not want them to become ill.
